Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA): MGNREGA is an Act enforced by the Government of India on September 7, 2005 with an aim to provide atleast 100 days paid wage days to each rural household whose adult member of the family volunteer to do unskilled manual labour. Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) a Scheme under MGNREGA was implemented with the goal to provide and enhance social security, livelihood security, creation of durable and sustainable assets, empowerment of women & weaker sections, participation, democracy, transparency and accountability. Under MGNREGA, each household is given legal guarantee to get employed in MGNREGS projects for atleast 100 days in a financial year. The Scheme is implemented in a Financial Year basis.
