This is for the general information of all concerned that the Padma Awards will be announced by the Government of India on the eve of Republic Day 2006, namely :-
1. Padma Vibhushan : For exceptional and distinguished service.
2. Padma Bhushan : For distinguished service of a high order.
3. Padma Shri : For distinguished service.
Nomination in respect of persons from East Khasi Hills District may be sent in the proforma furnished below to the office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong on or before the 22nd August, 2005.
All citizens of India of either sex including persons belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and weaker Sections and also handicapped persons and women shall be eligible for the Award. Two copies of Citation, nicely typed in good quality paper may also be sent for the nomination.
