PRESS RELEASE

 

                        The Government  of Meghalaya  has decided that Awards be instituted to commemorate the Meghalaya Day on the 21^st January, 2006 . The Award will be given in recognition of outstanding achievements in the field of Arts & Literature, Social Services  and sports at the rate of Rs.50,000/- ( Rupees : Fifty thousand) only for each Award.

The Awards in the respective fields have been named as :

1. U Tirot  Sing Award             :                       Arts & Literature.

2. U Pa Togan N.Sangma Award :                       Social Services.

3. U Kiang Nangbah Award             :                       Sports.

                        Intending individuals from East Khasi Hills district who desire  their names to be recommended to the  Government for the Award are required to send their nominations to the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong with the citation latest by 24^th October, 2005 .
